Smoking in the morning

And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. - Roald Dahl

I read somewhere, or heard somewhere else, that the best way to begin writing every day is to take ten or fifteen minutes to warm-up.

The idea is to find a fresh photograph that inspires a snippet of a story, a poem, a grocery list, whatever and just write. Use those few stolen moments of writing for yourself to loosen you up before writing something with the pressure of planned publication at its back.

So for the last few weeks I have been doing just that. Almost. But I couldn't pull myself away from the photograph I had stumbled upon and just kept coming back. Every morning. I used my warm up time to write a little more and on a story I didn't realize was coming.

Thus, SMOKE was born, an MM short of smoke and magic and, because it is me and I just can't help myself, the purest kind of love.

I have yet to break it to any betas, and only just mentioned it to my tiny writing circle Al Stewart and Ofelia Gränd but my hope is for a Summer release and, without a doubt, it will be a freebie to my mailing list subscribers. I'll let you know more as soon as I do.
